E46 M3 'M-clunk'
I know, that sounds crazy (if you've not heard of it before), but honestly, it's a thing.
Just google it!
As the drivetrain components wear on a 20 ish year old high permformance vehicle, it becomes noticeable in several ways.
But without doubt the most frustrating trait of an older E-series M-vehicle is the 'clunk' you get from the rear and sometimes central mechanical working of the car.
What do we mean by that?
Well, having spent the last 15 years owning, building, racing, and specialising in this great platform, we've identified 3 main wear points of the E46 M3 drivetrain.
Singularly they can annoy, doubly they can frustrate, and as a triple threat they can put you off wanting to drive it all together.
Some owners even tell us their passengers question if they can even drive properly.
Don't know what we mean?
Well, that's good then as you may not be experiencing the issue yet, but for those of you who have had enough of a worn and sloppy drivetrain then let us help you with some example videos:
These are in order of how common we find them:

2nd place - Driveshafts
